This has got to be one of the coolest inventions I have seen in a long time! It is called Polly Plastics and they are moldable plastic pellets, moldable plastic strips and it also cam with a silicone putty kit as well. (moldable plastic strips are sold seperately.)
These little white plastic pellets are to be melted inside a bowl of hot water that is at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit, and after 2-3 minutes passes they will turn from white to clear. The now clear plastic pellets will begin to form together into one big glob in your bowl. All you have to do is swirl some tongs or a fork around inside of the bowl and gather all of the melted plastic together. Once you do that, simply tap any excess water gently and begin to mold the plastic with your hands. It is recommended to wear gloves for heat protection as the plastic will likely still be hot for some time after it is removed from the water.
You then form your mound of plastic into any shape you desire! It is so simple and fun to create endless amounts of creations with this stuff. Our little girl, Giselle, had a blast with it! When you are finished molding your pieces, you can either drop into another bowl of ice water or pop into the freezer for a few minutes to help speed up the process in solidifying your new creation back to its original form, making it turn back to white again. I love that the creativity doesn't have to end at this stage. You can then paint your pieces with acrylic paints or permanent markers or even add specific dyes to the melted stage of this process to really customize what you are trying to make. The best part of these pellets is that if you make a mistake at any point, all you need to do is put it back into the hot water to re-melt and you can start over again! It is so innovative and cool!
The other portion of the kit is the silicone putty. Included are two jars of the putty in separate jars labeled A and B. To use this product, you just mix equal parts of A and B and knead them together so they become one. Then you pick anything that you want to make a mold of and form the putty mixture around the desired object. Let it cure for 30 minutes and remove the original object from the mold, and BOOM! You've got yourself a reusable and exact replica mold to form the melted plastic pellets into. You can also fill these molds with a wide variety of other substances as well.
These plastic strips are sold separately, but are to be used the same way the plastic pellets would. These strips are just a little easier to handle or cut into smaller portions for the desired amount you are looking to work with. These strips are really great for the kids to work with as well because it makes it a little easier for them to handle on their own when melting them. The included instruction booklet with these products is so incredibly helpful. It really allows you to expand your mind the endless possibilities you can use these great products for. They can be used for both fun and functional items. The plastic, once hardened, is very durable and strong. You will feel confident in the things your imagination can come up with.
